History of PIC

Grant Collaborations

State grant which funded the development and implementation of an initiative that improved the lives of children, birth to age eight and their families. This initiative included:

  • Strengthening and coordinating the current service delivery system for children birth to age eight and their families;
  • Identifying gaps in services;
  • Developing ways to address these gaps; and
  • Sustaining the initiative.

As a result of these funds, PIC created “Alliance Luncheons.” In an effort to improve collaboration and communication among key community partners, PIC hosted a series of luncheons in 2008 that included brain storming sessions around community issues, informational presentations and networking opportunities.

Luncheon 1 (March ‘08): “Let Us Pack Your Lunch”

Luncheon 2 (June ‘08): “Time to Move to Action”-- Presentation on helpful resources

Luncheon 3 (September ‘08): “Making Progress”-- Presentation on finding funding sources

Collaboration

PIC partners collaborate on a variety of projects as a result of their PIC relationships. Many organizations support each other ’ s efforts through shared resources, information exchange and unified efforts.

Influencing Policy Decisions

PIC partners have recently begun efforts to influence policy decisions at the state level. By making their collaborative efforts visible to state officials, PIC encourages them to strengthen and support existing systems that benefit children eight and under.

On February 18 th, PIC will be hosting the Legislative Break at the state capital. As a result, we hope legislatures will seek greater participation from local agencies already working on behalf of young children.
